Ogun Police Bust Cult Initiation In Isara-Remo, Arrest 30 Suspects

The Ogun State Police Command has disrupted a suspected cult initiation procession in Isara-Remo, arresting 30 male suspects during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), in collaboration with detectives from the Isara Area Command and Isara Division.

The operation followed credible intelligence that a group of suspected cultists had gathered at an uncompleted building in the town for an unlawful assembly involving initiation activities, chanting, and alcohol consumption.

Acting swiftly on the information, security operatives stormed the location, dispersed the gathering, and apprehended the suspects while others reportedly fled the scene.

Police also recovered four vehicles allegedly abandoned during the suspects’ attempted escape. Other items recovered included a jack knife, a local drum, a “sekere” (rattle), and bottles believed to have been used during the gathering.

The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution. Police authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other fleeing suspects.

Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, described the successful raid as evidence of the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and its zero-tolerance stance against cultism and violent crime.

The police chief urged individuals involved in cult-related activities to renounce such associations and embrace lawful pursuits, warning that the command would continue to crack down on criminal groups across the state.
