Ododo Renames Kogi Specialist Hospital After Late Ex-Governor Ibrahim Idris
Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo has renamed the Kogi State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja after former governor Ibrahim Idris in recognition of his contributions to the development of the state.

The governor announced the decision during the 40th-day prayer for the late politician in his hometown of Abejukolo, Omala Local Government Area.
The facility will now be known as the Ibrahim Idris Specialist Hospital.
Ododo said the decision was part of efforts to preserve the memory of individuals whose contributions had helped shape Kogi State.
He described the late Idris as a detribalised leader, astute businessman, committed humanitarian and prominent figure in the state’s political history.
The governor said Idris established new institutions and strengthened existing ones during his administration, leaving a legacy that would benefit future generations.
He also urged residents to embrace unity and rise above ethnic and political differences.
“Division destroys, but unity builds. As Kogites, we must rise above our differences and recognise that our greatest strength lies in our shared identity and common destiny,” Ododo said.
The governor expressed condolences to the deceased’s family, the people of Omala Local Government Area, the Igala Kingdom and residents of the state.
He also prayed for the repose of Idris’s soul, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
Earlier, Haruna Idris, who spoke on behalf of the family, thanked Ododo for his support throughout the burial arrangements.
The prayer was attended by senior government officials, heads of institutions and traditional rulers, as well as former Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada.
Ibrahim Idris governed Kogi State from 2003 to 2012.
