NYUG Urges Jonathan To Contest 2027 Presidency, Says Nigerians Need “Rescue Mission”

The Nigerian Youth Unions Government (NYUG) has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election, describing him as the most suitable leader to address Nigeria’s current economic and security challenges.

Speaking during a press conference held on Thursday in Abuja, the National President of NYUG, Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel, said Nigerians are facing worsening hardship, insecurity, and economic uncertainty under the present situation in the country.

According to him, many citizens have become frustrated by the rising cost of living and what he described as “renewed hopelessness” across the nation.

The youth leader noted that the administration of former President Jonathan witnessed relative economic stability, recalling that fuel sold for about N89 per litre while a bag of rice was reportedly affordable to average Nigerians during his tenure.

“Goodluck Jonathan is all we wish for Nigeria in 2027. He remains the best person to salvage Nigerians from insecurity, hardship and economic suffering,” Godstime stated.

The press conference was attended by representatives of several youth groups, including the Oduduwa Youth Parliament, Arewa Youth Federation, Ohanaeze Youth Assembly, and Niger Delta Youth Force, among others.

The coalition urged Jonathan to respond positively to what they described as a growing nationwide appeal for his return to active politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
