Notorious Lakurawa Leader Dando Sibu Killed After Clash with Nigerian Troops in Kebbi

A major breakthrough has been recorded in Nigeria’s ongoing counter-terrorism operations as confirmed intelligence reports indicate that Dando Sibu, a prominent leader of the Lakurawa terrorist group, is dead.

According to local sources, Sibu succumbed to injuries sustained during a fierce encounter with troops of the Nigerian Army in Giro Masa village, located in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The operation, which reportedly took place earlier this week, is part of intensified military efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the northwestern region. Security insiders revealed that the clash was decisive, with several militants neutralized while others fled with injuries.

Dando Sibu had long been identified as a key figure within the Lakurawa group, allegedly coordinating cross-border attacks and criminal activities in parts of Kebbi and neighboring regions. His death is being seen as a significant blow to the group’s leadership structure.

Residents in and around Shanga LGA have expressed cautious relief following the development, although concerns remain about possible retaliatory attacks or regrouping by remaining fighters.

Military authorities are yet to release an official statement confirming the development, but security analysts believe this could mark a turning point in ongoing operations against insurgent elements in the area.

As the situation continues to unfold, citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
