NNPCL reduces fuel price
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the price of petrol at some of its retail outlets in Abuja and surrounding areas.
Checks across the Federal Capital Territory on Sunday showed that some NNPCL filling stations had adjusted their pump price from N1,430 to N1,405 per litre.
The new price was seen at NNPCL outlets in areas including Gwarimpa, Kubwa and other parts of Abuja.
However, not all NNPCL stations followed the same pricing pattern. Some outlets along the Kubwa Expressway, Air Junction, and Wuse Zones 4 and 5 were still selling petrol at N1,395 per litre.
The different prices mean that motorists buying petrol from NNPCL stations in Abuja could pay varying amounts depending on the location of the outlet.
Other major filling stations in the capital also recorded different pump prices. MRS, Ranoil, AA Rano, Empire Energy and other outlets were selling petrol at prices ranging from N1,395 to N1,430 per litre at the time of the market check.
The latest development comes days after the Dangote Refinery reduced the price of petrol at its gantry by N25 per litre, bringing the price to N1,325 per litre.
Despite the reduction in the refinery’s price and the adjustment by some NNPCL outlets, many filling stations across Abuja and other parts of the country have yet to make similar reductions.
The development has continued to draw attention from motorists and other petrol consumers, particularly as crude oil prices remain high in the international market.
West Texas Intermediate crude was trading at about $92 per barrel, while Brent crude stood at around $104 per barrel at the time of the report.
The differences in pump prices across filling stations have left motorists paying different amounts for the same product, depending on the outlet and location.
