NIPSS Jos Attack Foiled as Troops Kill Gunman, Recover Stolen Army Rifle CO-3175
Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace, repelled a 12:10 a.m. attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS Kuru, Jos South, Plateau State, on Thursday, July 2. One assailant was neutralised, others fled wounded toward high ground. No troops were hurt.
The recovered AK-pattern rifle, Reg. No. CO-3175 with 16 rounds, belonged to a soldier killed at the Federal College of Land Resources Technology, Vom, on April 11, 2026, the Army said. The weapon is now in military custody.
Patrols have been intensified around NIPSS Kuru and adjoining communities. The Army says the situation is under control and investigations are ongoing into links to previous attacks in the Kuru-Vom axis.
