Nigerian Youth Leader Urges President Tinubu to Declare Emergency Rule in Zamfara Over Rising Insecurity
The National Leadership of the Nigerian Youth Unions Government, led by Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Zamfara State following renewed attacks and growing insecurity in the region.
Speaking after addressing youths in the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the upcoming council area elections, Godstime expressed concern over continued terrorist attacks and the destruction of Nigerian military equipment in parts of the North West, particularly Zamfara State.
He stated that an emergency rule would enable the Nigerian military to take more decisive and coordinated action to combat terrorism in Zamfara and across the wider North West region. According to him, the persistent attacks have become a national concern requiring urgent federal intervention to restore stability.
Godstime also criticized Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, alleging that the security situation in the state has deteriorated under his administration. He claimed that the safety of residents continues to be threatened and warned that frustration among youths in the state is increasing.
He further argued that a coordinated administrator with a strong security background could better address the crisis and ensure a more strategic response to the ongoing security challenges in Zamfara State.
Zamfara has remained at the center of Nigeria’s banditry and insurgency challenges, with repeated reports of attacks on communities, security personnel, and infrastructure. Calls for stronger federal intervention have intensified as residents continue to demand improved protection.
