Nigerian Troops Arrest Four Suspects in Sokoto Over Alleged Supply of Terrorist Bomb-Making Materials.

Nigerian troops from the 8 Division Garrison arrested four suspects in Sokoto State for conveying metal materials intended for making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The arrest took place around 4:15 p.m. on July 4, 2026, in the Shanawa area of Isa Local Government Area.

The suspects were found with metal bed frames and metal plates and were intercepted while they were transporting materials. Preliminary reports indicate the items were looted from the Bafarawa community.

Military intelligence states that these specific metal items are highly sought after by regional bandit groups to fabricate local IED variants used against security convoys and local communities.

The suspects and their recovered exhibits are currently being held in military custody. Investigators are trying to establish if a wider procurement network or more accomplices were involved in the looting and logistics chain. Upon completion of the investigation, the suspects are expected to face formal prosecution.
