Nigerian Troops Arrest 19 Suspects In Plateau Community After Ambush Kills Two Security Operatives
According to the sources, troops raided Tongoron Community, where 19 suspects were arrested for profiling and further investigation.
Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace, have arrested 19 suspects during a raid on Tongoron Community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State as part of ongoing efforts to track down those responsible for the recent deadly ambush on security operatives.
Intelligence sources told counter-insurgency expert and security analyst Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, following the attack on security personnel at a snap roadblock along the Ganawuri–Sabon Gida Road.
According to the sources, troops raided Tongoron Community, where 19 suspects were arrested for profiling and further investigation.
The suspects comprise 14 indigenes of the community and five Fulani residents, the sources said.
Military authorities disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing profiling to determine whether they have any links to the ambush or other criminal activities in the area.
The operation forms part of ongoing clearance, cordon-and-search operations by Operation Enduring Peace aimed at identifying those responsible for the attack, recovering stolen weapons and preventing further security breaches in Riyom Local Government Area.
The raid followed the recent ambush in which gunmen reportedly attacked a joint security patrol along the Ganawuri–Sabon Gida Road, killing two security operatives and making away with their service rifles. Security forces have since intensified operations across the area to apprehend the attackers and recover the stolen weapons.

It was gathered that the deadly attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when four security operatives drawn from two different security locations mounted a roadblock along the Ganawuri–Sabon Gida axis as part of routine security operations.
After completing the operation, the team reportedly began returning to their respective duty posts. However, two of the operatives failed to return, raising concerns among their colleagues.
Following the attack, security personnel launched extensive cordon-and-search operations across surrounding communities in an effort to track down the gunmen and recover the stolen firearms.
