Nigerian Soldier Raises Alarm, Says Cabals Fuel Terrorism, Carry Out Several Illegal Businesses

In the video sighted by SaharaReporters on Monday, June 8, 2026, the soldier, who did not disclose his name or rank, said he was aware of military regulations prohibiting personnel from airing their views on social media but felt compelled to speak out.

ANigerian soldier has released a viral video in which he alleged that powerful and influential cabals are behind the country’s worsening insecurity, claiming they deliberately sponsor violence to gain illegal access to mineral resources across various states.

In the video sighted by SaharaReporters on Monday, June 8, 2026, the soldier, who did not disclose his name or rank, said he was aware of military regulations prohibiting personnel from airing their views on social media but felt compelled to speak out.

“I know there is an order for us not to air our views on social media, but please, my heart is boiling,” he said.

“Please, sir, permit me to use this medium to air my observation and contribution concerning insecurity.”

The soldier alleged that a network of powerful individuals was benefiting from the country’s security crisis and deliberately fueling conflicts in areas where valuable mineral deposits had been discovered.

“This issue of insecurity is caused by some men as cabals; those cabals are the ones causing this insecurity,” he said.

“Those cabals must be taken out. They are using insecurity as an element of distraction to Nigerians. They are using insecurity as an element of the more you look, the less you see.

“Any state they discover new mineral resources, they will cause insecurity in that state to scare the village, the farmers away, in order to do their illegal business inside the bushes.”

According to him, the individuals behind the alleged scheme remain largely invisible to the public despite wielding enormous influence and power.

He said, “You will not see them there. You can hardly hear their names or see their names in the front pages of newspapers, yet, they are so influential, so powerful, so connected both internationally and locally, that even when the state governors want to fight with their security vote money, these people can secretly set the state governor up and use his own house of assembly against him.”

The soldier further claimed that insecurity was being used as a diversionary tactic to conceal illegal activities taking place in conflict-ridden regions.

“The only way to fight this insecurity is to take out the canals because these people, once they discover something in the bush in any state, they will cause insecurity in that state because they are using insecurity as an element of distraction so that people will not know what is going on,” the soldier said.

“Even if the military or the security forces come in, the security forces will concentrate on fighting the insurgents in that state, not knowing that something is going on illegally in that same state.”

He particularly referenced Nigeria’s North-East region, arguing that its vast mineral wealth could significantly improve the country’s economic fortunes if properly harnessed.

According to him, “Nigerians entirely are not enjoying what is going on in the North East, but the solid mineral resources in the North East alone can solve the economic challenges in Nigeria as a whole for many years to come.

“Yet, Nigerians are not seeing the effect. Only the cabals are enjoying it.”

The soldier also expressed fears for his safety following the release of the video, suggesting that powerful interests could retaliate against him for speaking out.

“I know these people can secretly use any agency, any force they want against me, but please, sir, stop them,” he said.

“If you people do not hear from me anytime soon, you people should ask questions. If you did not hear anything about me anytime soon, just ask questions.

“But this is the truth. The cabals must be stopped.”

He further lamented the prolonged impact of insecurity on communities affected by terrorism and mass abductions, citing the cases of the Chibok and Dapchi schoolgirls.

“That is how we are in this country. Some time ago, the Chibok girls have turned into Chibok women. Some Dapchi schoolgirls have already turned into Dapchi school women.

“Who knows where it is going to happen tomorrow?”

The soldier alleged that terrorist groups continue to thrive because the supposed sponsors possess the resources and influence to replenish their ranks despite military operations.

“Those bad criminals in the bush. Even if we clear 10,000 terrorists today, the cabals are so influential and so powerful that they can recruit another 100,000 terrorists because they are using our mineral resources against us.”
