Nigerian Police Redeploy New Commissioners To Enugu, Ondo, Two Other States

Ogarabe, formerly CP, INTERPOL Annex Lagos, was deployed alongside three other Commissioners of Police to Plateau, Nasarawa and Ondo states after interviews to ascertain their fitness and suitability for the offices.

The Police Service Commission has appointed CP Fidelis Ogarabe as the new Commissioner of Police for Enugu State.

Ogarabe, formerly CP, INTERPOL Annex Lagos, was deployed alongside three other Commissioners of Police to Plateau, Nasarawa and Ondo states after interviews to ascertain their fitness and suitability for the offices.

Those deployed are CP Sunday J. A. Okoebor (former CP, Police Accounts and Budget, FHQ) to Plateau State; CP Sheikh Mohammed Danko (former CP, Force Intelligence Annex Lagos) to Nasarawa State; and CP Johnson Ayodeji Babalola (former CP, Special Inquiry, FHQ Abuja) to Ondo State.

According to a statement signed by the Head, Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Njoku Kalu, the PSC said the postings were approved on Thursday at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, PSC Headquarters, Abuja.

Commission Chairman DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu said the deployments were in line with Section 215(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the commission to appoint Commissioners of Police for each state and the Federal Capital Territory.

Argungu, who was represented by Board Member Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC rtd), said the officers were found worthy in learning and character and urged them to be impartial and live up to the expectations of their new offices.

Ogarabe served as the Chief Security Officer of the Enugu State government house for years before he was promoted to Assistant Commissioner and redeployed to head State Police Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
