Nigerian National Arrested, Charged With Sexual Assault Of Child In Toronto Grocery Store

A 35-year-old Nigerian national, Idris Olajide Oladejo, has been arrested and charged by the Toronto Police Service following a shocking sexual assault on a child inside a grocery store.
The incident occurred on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m. in the busy commercial hub around Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East.

According to police investigators from the 55 Division, published on its website, the young victim was shopping at a local grocery store alongside their parents when the suspect approached and sexually assaulted the child.
Following the attack, the suspect attempted to escape the scene on foot but was actively chased by a civilian bystander before police units arrived.
Following a brief manhunt and a public safety alert issued to the community, police operatives successfully tracked down and arrested Oladejo on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

The accused, who resides in Toronto, made his first court appearance for a bail hearing at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, located at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on June 23, 2026, in Room 102.
