Nigerian Banker Acquires £15m London Mansion
Roosevelt Ogbonna, the Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, has acquired a luxurious £15 million ($20 million) mansion on the prestigious Bishops Avenue, popularly known as “Billionaires’ Row,” in London’s Hampstead.
The purchase was finalized in August, securing a discount from the initial £17 million listing price, and coincides with the banker’s resignation as a non-executive director from Access Holdings Plc (the parent company of Access Bank) that same month. His resignation was to comply with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Corporate Governance Guidelines which limit the number of directors on a financial holding company’s board.
Mr. Ogbonna, who maintains his role as Access Bank CEO, continues to lead the bank’s ambitious international expansion strategy and holds a reported $2.7 million stake in Access Holdings.
