Nigerian Army disowns fake recruitment advertisement
The Nigerian Army has warned the public against a fake recruitment advertisement circulating online, claiming that the Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 29 Application Form for 2026 is available.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Anele Appolonia, described the advert as false, fake and misleading, stressing that no such recruitment has been approved or announced.
The Army clarified that it has not commenced any recruitment or commissioning for either the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or Short Service Commission (SSC).
It urged Nigerians to disregard the advert, noting that it did not originate from the Army or any of its authorised platforms.
According to the statement, all legitimate recruitment exercises will be announced through official channels, including the Nigerian Army website, verified social media accounts, national newspapers and other recognised communication platforms.
The Army also cautioned the public to be vigilant against fraudsters who use fake recruitment notices to deceive and extort unsuspecting individuals, reiterating that recruitment into the Nigerian Army is free of charge.
It encouraged anyone with information about such fraudulent activities or those behind them to report immediately to the nearest security agency or appropriate authorities.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and advised Nigerians to rely solely on official sources for information on recruitment and other Army activities.
