Nigeria to Establish First All-Female University, Lecturers May Also Be Women
Nigeria has approved its first female-only university, Tazkiyah University, founded by Professor Ibrahim Maqari, Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja.
Located in Zaria, Kaduna State, the institution is envisioned to admit only women and may even have an all-female academic staff, making it a first of its kind in the country.
Prof. Maqari revealed that profits from the school will go into a fund to support orphans.
Tazkiyah is among nine new private universities recently accredited by the NUC, with plans to later move its permanent site to Kaduna city.
