My Landlady Increased My Rent By 380%”- Tunisian Businesswoman Reveals Why She Shut Down Her Business In Nigeria

A Tunisian businesswoman in Nigeria faced a significant rent increase.
Her landlady raised the rent by 380%, making it unaffordable.
The drastic hike forced her to close her business.

A Tunisian businesswoman based in Nigeria has narrated how a drastic increase in her shop’s rent forced her to shut down her business despite investing all her resources into the property.

According to the entrepreneur, her landlady increased the rent by 380 per cent, leaving her unable to continue operating from the building.

Sharing her experience, she revealed that she had invested everything she had into setting up and developing the business premises before the unexpected rent hike.

“I had to shut down my business because my landlady increased my rent by 380%. I invested everything I had into that building. My advice? Never invest in a building you don’t own”

The businesswoman’s experience has sparked discussions about the risks entrepreneurs may face when they invest heavily in rented properties, particularly when they do not have long-term control over the premises.

She advised other business owners to carefully consider property ownership and rental agreements before committing substantial funds to developing a rented space.
