“My Father Still Wakes At 3am To Pray” – Leke Adeboye Explains Why He Doesn’t Want RCCG G.O. Role
Pastor Leke Adeboye, son of RCCG General Overseer Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has said he has no ambition to become the next General Overseer of the church.
He explained that seeing the demands and sacrifices his father continues to make has given him a deeper understanding of the weight that comes with the position.

Leke explained that he has seen firsthand the demands and sacrifices that come with being the RCCG General Overseer and does not desire the position.
He noted that despite being almost 84 years old, his father continues to maintain a demanding spiritual routine, including dry fasting and waking around 3am for prayer walks.
According to him, the responsibilities attached to the position go far beyond occupying a title, as more than 20,000 RCCG churches look to the General Overseer for leadership, while many other Christians also regard him as a spiritual father.
Leke said one of the major lessons he has learnt is the importance of accountability, stressing that everyone will eventually give an account of the opportunities, access and positions entrusted to them.
He added that as the General Overseer’s son, he is also conscious of being accountable for the people he allows into his space and the relationships he builds.
Leke further explained that this is one of the reasons he encourages his father to build stronger relationships with other pastors doing similar work.
