Morayo Brown’s husband reveals premarital abstinence request from mother-in-law
Lawyer and businessman Femi Brown, popularly known as Mr Brown, has revealed that the mother of his wife, former Your View host and The Morayo Show anchor Morayo, privately asked him not to have sex with her daughter before their marriage.
Morayo and Brown celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on the show in February.
In a resurfaced video from the episode on Friday, Brown recounted how Morayo’s mother privately appealed to him to abstain from sex with her daughter until they got married.
“Morayo’s mum called me privately and pleaded with me, ‘Do not have sex with your girlfriend until you get married,” the lawyer said.
Brown said the request influenced his decision to abstain from premarital sex, explaining that he wanted to honour God and viewed the decision as an act of obedience.
“I’m not trying to protect her, but I’m just trying to honour God that if you are able to do that, when you get married, there are certain demands to be able to place on God because you have obeyed that rule not to premarital sex that a lot of people who didn’t wouldn’t be able to make,” the lawyer said.
He said the conversation made him decide to take a chance and remain sexually abstinent until marriage.
“So it was on that baseline I just decided that, okay, if truly God is going to do something because we did not have sex before marriage, well, let me just take a chance. Not as if I’ve never had sex before, it’s not such a big deal,” he said.
Brown said he kept his decision and did not have sex with Morayo until they got married.
“So I just decided to hold on and I held on, and we did not have sex till we got married,” he said.
According to him, the couple got married on January 19, 2011, after maintaining their decision to abstain from premarital sex.
“We got married on the 19th of January 2011,” Brown said.
Brown said their marriage was subsequently blessed with children, noting that they had their fourth child within a year of their wedding.
“Without premarital sex, we had a fourth child by the 18th of January 2012. So there was no moment of waiting,” he said.
The couple’s revelation comes as they mark 15 years of marriage, with Brown reflecting on the decision to abstain from sex before their wedding and the role Morayo’s mother played in influencing that decision.
