Makinde Announces 75m Circular Road Setback, Reveals N6.7bn Compensation Plan
Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, has announced plans to gazette a 75-metre setback for built-up areas along the Ibadan Circular Road corridor, saying disbursement of the N6.7 billion compensation to affected property owners will begin immediately after approval this week.

Makinde made the announcement on Sunday during a media chat on a popular Radio program in Ibadan.
For the built-up area along the Circular Road corridor, I know what they want and I will do it. For the built-up area, we will make it 75m setback and it will be gazetted,” the governor said.
He added that the N6.7 billion compensation would be signed this week, with disbursement beginning immediately and expected to be completed before the end of October.
In another disclosure during the same interview, Makinde said he had recommended Bimbo Adekanmbi for a ministerial appointment, but President Bola Tinubu picked Adebayo Adelabu instead.
The governor said he had approached Tinubu with Adekanmbi as his preferred candidate, expressing confidence in his ability to serve as a minister.
Makinde also revisited the political alliance involving the G5 governors, claiming that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was the major beneficiary of the arrangement.
He argued that Tinubu made most of the ministerial appointments, suggesting that other members of the G5 did not benefit significantly from the alliance.
