Major Blow to Islamic State as Top Commander Falls in Joint Nigeria-US Operation

BORNO – Nigerian and United States forces have carried out a major counterterrorism operation that destroyed an Islamic State camp and eliminated senior commander Abu-Bilal al-Minuki during a coordinated strike in the Lake Chad Basin area of Borno State.

According to reports released by ADF Magazine and international media, the operation targeted a fortified ISWAP hideout believed to be used for planning attacks across the region.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confirmed the operation and described it as a strong example of security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States.

Reports also stated that several other fighters linked to the terrorist network were removed during the mission as military forces continue operations around the area to stop escaping members from regrouping.
