LP Publicity Secretary , Dr Arabambi petitions Police, alleges threat to life from Former Governor Osoba’s Son
A serious political storm is brewing in Ogun State as the Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Dr Abayomi Arabambi, filed a petition against the son of the former Ogun State governor and current member of the House of Representatives, Hon Olumide Osoba, alleging threat to his life.
A receiver’s copy of the petition obtained by our correspondent showed the complaint letter had been sent to both the police and the Department of the State Security Services in Ogun state.
The petition, submitted through his legal counsel, Prof Yemi Oke SAN accuses Olumide Osoba of issuing veiled death threats and attempts to intimidate him over a political comment made on social media.
According to the petition, Arabambi, a national executive member of the Labour Party had posted a message in a WhatsApp group focused on Ogun State governance and politics.
The post criticized the idea of maintaining the current political representation in Abeokuta North, Odeda, and Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency beyond 2027, warning that any such attempt would be “dead on arrival.”
He ended the post with the rallying cry “Our mumu don do” and “O to gee,” a phrase often associated with calls for political change.
In what Arabambi’s legal team described as an immediate and calculated response, the house of representatives member allegedly sent a personal message to Arabambi stating, “You have been paid as usual. We will meet at the appointed time in the place you would least expect.”
The Labour Party chieftain’s lawyer Prof Yemi Oke SAN argued that this statement goes beyond political banter and amounts to a veiled threat, suggesting an impending attack or ambush which could led to possible assassination.
The situation escalated further when Osoba reportedly sent another message the following day, citing a Bible verse from Ecclesiastes 10:15, “The labor of fools wearies every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.”
Arabambi’s lawyers interpret this as a deliberate insult and character assassination, branding their client a fool and someone without direction.
But beyond the alleged insult, the petition claims that Olumide Osoba, wielding both political clout and influence, poses a direct threat to Arabambi’s life and the safety of his family.
In the petition signed by a senior lawyer Prof. Yemi Oke, SAN, the legal team alleges that the lawmaker “moves about with a retinue of political thugs, aides, and security agents,” and therefore has the capacity and connections to make good on the alleged threats.
The able petition partly reads, “This letter is to bring to your attention that Hon. Olumide Osoba is after our client’s life and that of his family members. He is determined to deploy his political thugs and killer-agents alike to execute his plans and threats.”
The lawyers demanded immediate police intervention, urging the Commissioner of Police and Director of the DSS to launch a full investigation and summon Osoba for questioning.
They insist that if any harm should come to Arabambi or his family, Osoba and his political allies must be held responsible.
The letter concludes with a stark warning, “We therefore, most sincerely, appeal to you… so that our client’s life and that of his entire family will not be cut short by Hon. Olumide Osoba and his allies or supporters.”
Efforts to get the lawmaker to speak was unsuccessful as he neither picked up calls from our correspondent nor responded to text messages of enquiry from our correspondent.
