One of the suspects, identified as Aliyu Isiaka, was reportedly intercepted while disguising himself in female attire, wearing a hijab and carrying a polythene bag containing assorted charms.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday by the Kwara State Police Command, Isiaka, a male resident of Ga’a-Kpapa Village in Moro Local Government Area, was arrested on October 24, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m. in the Okolowo area of Ilorin by a team of forest guards led by Jebrin Adam.Buy Maps

The police said the arrest marked a breakthrough in ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle kidnapping networks operating in the state and uncover their links to several abduction incidents.

During interrogation, Isiaka confessed to being a member of a nine-man kidnapping syndicate reportedly led by a suspect identified only as Juli, a resident of Fulani Camp, Ga’a-Kpapa, who remains at large.

The suspect reportedly told investigators that he was recruited into the gang in August 2026 and had participated in three kidnapping operations in Oloru, Alapa and Malete, where substantial ransom payments were allegedly collected.

Following Isiaka’s arrest and further investigations, a joint team of police officers and forest guards reportedly launched a targeted operation at a suspected kidnappers’ camp on October 25, 2026.

The operation led to the arrest of two additional male suspects identified as Seriki and Jebrin, bringing the total number of suspects apprehended in connection with the investigation to three.

The police said the suspects were undergoing further investigation and would be arraigned in court after the conclusion of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Ojo Adekimi, described the arrests as another significant step towards dismantling kidnapping networks and restoring lasting security in vulnerable communities across the state.

Adekimi reiterated that the command would sustain intelligence-led operations, strengthen collaboration with other security agencies and intensify efforts to track down criminal suspects threatening peace and security in the state.

The commissioner said the measures were in line with the operational directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The police said the joint operation demonstrated the importance of intelligence gathering and cooperation between security agencies in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The command urged continued cooperation among security agencies as investigations into the alleged kidnapping syndicate continue.
