Kogi Police Roll Out New ID System for Okada Riders to Boost Security, Begins July 1

The Kogi State Police Command has announced that from 1st July 2026, all commercial (Okada) motorcyclists in the state must wear reflective jackets with serial numbers and valid ID cards.

The jackets will be colour-coded by senatorial district:

* Yellow – Kogi Central
* Blue – Kogi West
* Red – Kogi East

The aim is simple and hard-edged: improve identification of riders, tighten security, and stop criminals from hiding in plain sight on motorcycles.

Police leadership has ordered strict enforcement across all divisions, while warning officers against extortion or harassment during the exercise.

Non-compliant riders risk arrest and possible impoundment of motorcycles until they meet the requirements.
