N!geria Are Irrësponsîble and Rëcklëss— Sheikh Gumi Fîres Båck

According to a statement shared by Islamic cleric Dr. Ahmad Sheikh Gumi on his official Facebook page, U.S. Presîdent Donåld Trümp’s persîstent crîticism of N!geria is both “irrësponsible and rëckless.

Gumi condemned Trump’s pattern of speaking disparågingly about the country, arguing that such comments fåll below the ståndard expected of someone who once held one of the most inflüential offices in the wörld.

Gumi stated that while Nigeria faces undeniable challenges, including economic pressures and seçurity cöncerns, it is unacceptable for a global figure to repeatedly use demeaning language when referring to the nation.

He argued that Trümp’s remarks display a “låck of dëcorum,” suggesting that a former president should embody diplömacy, restraint, and respect in public disçourse—values he believes Trümp çonsîstently ignores.

According to Gumi, comments that belittle Nîgeria contribüte to hårmful international stereotypes and embolden those who already hold prejüdiced views about Afrîcans.

He stressed that millions of Nîgerians contribute positively to global innovation, academia, medicine, business, and culture, and it is unjust for the actions or struggles of a country to be reduced to möckery.

Gumi wårned that rhetoric from a figure as promînent as Trümp has çonsequences. He asserted that such remarks can inflüence international attîtudes and foreign media narratives, further dåmaging Nîgeria’s reputation abroad.

He urged Nîgerians not to intërnalize the insülts but instead to focus on strengthening the nation internally while defending its image extërnally.
