JUST IN: Owo Local Government Secretariat Reportedly “Closed to All Politicians”
Residents of Owo, Ondo State, were thrown into confusion on Thursday morning after discovering a handwritten placard boldly stating Ristriction To All Politicians placed at the main gate of the Owo Local Government Secretariat arising from the suspension issued to the chairman on Wednesday by some councillors.
The notice, which appeared to have been written on plain paper and pasted overnight, has since sparked widespread curiosity and speculation about its origin and motive.
According to eyewitnesses, the inscription was first noticed in the early hours of the day by staff members and passersby who had come to the council headquarters for official duties. The message immediately went viral across social media platforms, with many users questioning whether it reflected an official directive or a personal protest.
Sources within the council disclosed that two workers allegedly identified as Ayodele Oluwasemilore Oyedokun and Idowu Adebomi’s kinsmen were behind the mysterious signage.
However, the reason for their action remains unclear as at press time.
Some residents have interpreted the move as a symbolic protest against the recent political interference and tension brewing within the local government chairman and councillord while others dismissed it as a mischievous prank.
A senior staff member at the council, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the incident but clarified that the Secretariat remained open for official activities.
Efforts to reach the council’s chairman for an official statement were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the inscription has since been removed, but the incident continues to generate conversations across Owo and beyond, with many calling for proper investigation into the act and the individuals involved.
