JUST IN: Ayodele Predicts Higher Energy Costs In December And January, Warns Of Imminent Blackout In Nîgerîa
According to Primate Elijah Ayodele on his official Facebook page on Friday, September 4, 2026, the cleric warned that Nigeria could experience an increase in energy-related costs from December 2026 into January 2027, while also predicting that the country may face another period of widespread electricity blackout.

Ayodele urged the Minister of Power to take preventive measures, saying his warning was intended to draw attention to the possibility of a worsening electricity situation in the country.
The prophet said the anticipated development could begin towards the end of the year and continue into the early months of 2027.
“Then Nigerian energy will increase from December this year, January thereabout, and I see blackout,” Ayodele said.
He subsequently called on the Minister of Power to pay particular attention to the electricity sector and work towards preventing a disruption in power supply.
“Let the Minister of Power work on the issue of blackout,” he said.
Ayodele went further to describe the situation as something that could happen in the near future, stressing the urgency of addressing the potential challenges before they escalate.
“Blackout is imminent,” the cleric warned.
The statement adds to Ayodele’s series of public predictions concerning Nigeria’s economy, energy sector, politics and other national issues. His forecasts frequently attract public attention, particularly when they concern developments that could affect millions of Nigerians.
Electricity supply remains a major issue in Nigeria, where disruptions in power generation, transmission and distribution have historically affected households and businesses. Any prolonged power outage can also have wider economic consequences because businesses and individuals often depend on alternative sources of electricity to maintain operations.
However, Ayodele’s latest warning should be understood as a prediction rather than confirmation that a nationwide blackout will occur. The statement itself does not provide technical evidence or a specific explanation for what would cause the anticipated disruption.
His reference to rising energy costs also comes at a time when electricity and other energy-related expenses remain important issues for consumers and businesses.
By specifically directing his appeal to the Minister of Power, Ayodele appeared to be urging the government to act ahead of the period he identified.
The cleric did not provide further details in the statement about the expected scale or duration of the blackout, nor did he identify specific power infrastructure that he believed could trigger the development.
