IPOB Declares South-East Nigeria Safe For Christmas, Calls On Igbo People At Home And Abroad To Visit
IPOB has announced that the South‑East is “Nigeria’s most tranquil area” and is safe for Christmas celebrations.
In a statement released Sunday, the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, said the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and IPOB volunteers will guarantee the safety of residents and visitors throughout the festive season .
The movement is urging Igbo people—both in Nigeria and abroad—to return home in large numbers for the holidays, promising a warm welcome and the “warmth of the Land of the Rising Sun” .
IPOB also warned that attempts by the Nigerian government and some “self‑serving Igbo politicians” to portray the region as unsafe are baseless, describing recent kidnapping footage as an old clip recycled on social media .
