Insecurity: Osun govt approves Joint Task Force after DSS alert
The Osun State Government has approved the establishment of a Joint Security Task Force to strengthen response to threats to lives and property after a security threat alert by the Department of State Services.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said the decision to set up the task force was adopted at the State Security Council meeting convened by Governor Ademola Adeleke and presided over by Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi.
He said the deputy governor conveyed the governor’s commendation to service commanders for their steadfastness during recent security challenges, noting that the administration would provide necessary logistics, while urging traditional rulers to sustain local security oversight.
The council assured residents that Osun remains safe, urged vigilance around churches, mosques and schools, and directed the police and other agencies to be on 24-hour red alert.
The statement also called for timely intelligence sharing and collaboration among the Ministry of Justice, police and DSS to ensure prompt investigation and prosecution of suspects.
