Influencer Ashlee Jenae died of suicide due to mental distress, say Zanzibar police

The Zanzibar police force has confirmed that Ashlee Jenae, US influencer, died of “suicide as a result of mental distress”.

Janae, born Ashly Robinson, died at the age of 31 while on vacation with her fiance Joe McCann in Zanzibar, Tanzania, where the couple had travelled to celebrate her birthday on April 5.

She was reportedly found unconscious in her villa at a luxury resort and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Zuberi Chembera, deputy director of criminal investigations, in a statement cited by local outlet The Citizen, said investigations showed that Ashly had been experiencing emotional distress linked to her personal circumstances.
