INEC Plans Additional Wards in Six Kogi LGAs, Sparks Political Reactions

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), under the leadership of its Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, is reportedly considering the creation of additional electoral wards in six Local Government Areas of Kogi State.

The proposed distribution includes:

* Ijumu LGA: 9 additional wards
* Yagba East LGA: 6 additional wards
* Okene LGA: 5 additional wards
* Mopa-Muro LGA: 4 additional wards
* Yagba West LGA: 4 additional wards
* Kabba/Bunu LGA: 4 additional wards

However, no additional wards are reportedly proposed for Kogi East under the plan.

The development has generated political reactions across the state, with some netizens questioning why Kogi East was excluded from the proposed ward creation.

Some commentators have described the move as an attempt to weaken Kogi East’s political influence, while others are calling for transparency and fairness in the process.
