A Yoruba man has explained why he is supporting Peter Obi, saying his ethnic background has nothing to do with his choice in the presidential election.

A Yoruba man has explained why he is supporting Peter Obi in the upcoming presidential election, despite his ethnic background.
The man said his decision was not influenced by tribe, insisting that he is backing Obi because of his assessment of the former Anambra State governor’s record.
Speaking about his choice, he said people may describe Obi as the lesser evil, but he does not share that view.
He said, “I’m a Yoruba man, but tribe has nothing to do with who I’m supporting in the presidential election. I’m supporting Peter Obi because he is a man who has no bad record. People call him the lesser evil, but he is not. As far as Nigeria’s political space is concerned, he is a saint.”
Peter Obi is currently the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general election.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions on X, with some users agreeing that voters should not make political choices based on ethnicity, while others challenged his assessment of Obi.
