“I’ll never take care of my mother” – 21-year-old man cries out
As he described the circumstances that led to the dissolution of his parents’ marriage, a 21-year-old Nigerian man provoked comments on social media by promising never to look for his mother.
In a tweet that X (previously Twitter) user @jon_d_doe reposted, the young man described how his father’s incarceration overseas altered their family’s trajectory.
The 21-year-old claims that after visiting China in 2013, his father was imprisoned there for 12 years.
He said that before to his incarceration, his father told his mother to sell just one of his automobiles if she needed the money to cover the kids’ tuition.
But he said that his mother moved the family to a less expensive home after selling all of his father’s properties.
The young man added that his mother eventually stopped returning his calls, despite the fact that his father continued to assist him financially from prison.
The 21-year-old also claimed that while his father was incarcerated, his mother became pregnant by another man and later ended the pregnancy.
He added that his mother has refused to get in touch with him, saying that he should be the one to do so, even after his father returned to Nigeria earlier this year.
The young man claims that his mother’s family members are in a similar situation.
The young man expressed his unhappiness by stating that he no longer communicates with his mother and that he agrees with his father’s choice to file for divorce.
He wrote: “My father married my mom out of pity, and he regretted it. He wants me to understand seriously that I should never get married to a woman out of pity.
At first, my father started hitting my mom when he found that she purposely removed a child for him.
Fast forward to 2013 when my father left for China but due to some circumstances, he was locked up in jail for 12 years.
He returned to Nigeria earlier this year, while in prison, he told my mom to only sell the car he have so she can be able to pay our new terms school fees.
