IF YOU BOUGHT THE DANGOTE REFINERY IPO THROUGH A BANK, PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE 13th OF OCTOBER 2026
I have seen so many posts on social media saying:
“If you don’t want to cry later, don’t buy Dangote IPO through a bank.”
“Use a stockbroker app, otherwise you will regret it.”

I understand where some of these people are coming from.
Because…
There have been situations in the past where people subscribed to public offers through banks, and after the offer, they had issues getting their shares properly connected to their CSCS accounts.
But as Someone deeply connected in the system, there is something I want you to understand about this particular Dangote Refinery IPO.
The Process Has Been Structured Differently.
As your Financial Literacy Advocate..
Let me tell you what is happening behind the scenes.
And please, pay attention because this is the kind of thing many people don’t know.
First of all…
What Happens When You Buy Dangote IPO through BANK?
Let’s say you go to your bank and say:
“I want to subscribe for Dangote Refinery IPO.”
You make your subscription.
The bank is not the company selling you the shares directly.
Behind the scenes, your subscription goes through the capital-market structure involving stockbrokers and the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS).
And this is where your BVN becomes very important.
Yes..
Your BVN is being used as the number one part of the identification process to connect you to your CSCS details or Create new CSCS Account for new Investors.
So whether you subscribed through a:
Bank
Fintech
POS
or another approved channel,
the fact that you used a bank or POS does not mean your shares are sitting inside that bank.
THAT IS NOT HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS.
Oya Calm down…
Let me Explain this better in a way that even Grandma in the Village will nod her head and say:
“Yes i understand this one”
Imagine Mama Ngozi wants to buy shares.
She goes to a POS terminal and says:
“I want to subscribe for Dangote IPO.”
She pays her money.
Now, the POS terminal itself is not becoming the owner of Dangote shares.
No.
The POS is simply providing a channel through which her subscription is submitted to CSCS directly via the Stockbroker that sponsored the POS Company.
Yes.
I want you to understand that every fintech company or platform selling this Dangote IPO, behind that channel has its own relationship with a stockbroker.
For example, where a fintech partners with a particular stockbroker, the subscription is routed through that stockbroker.
For Example:
If you buy DANGOTE IPO on Flutterwave, Airtel Smartcash, Paga or MTN Momo APP just know that The Stock Brokers behind your Transaction is Chapel Hill Denham (the Owner of InvestNaija APP)
And when you buy the Dangote IPO on Moniepoint App or POS just know that the Stock Brokers behind the transaction is Vetiva Securities Limited.
So there are different people doing different jobs behind the scenes.
You see the POS.
But behind that POS is a financial system.
You see the fintech app.
Behind that app is a stockbroker.
And behind the stock-market settlement system is CSCS.
THAT IS THE PART MANY PEOPLE DON’T SEE.
Now Here Is The Important Part….
For this Dangote IPO process, your BVN is important for linking your identity to your CSCS details.
So after subscribing, no matter the platform you use, please check your phone.
Check your SMS.
Check your email.
You should be looking for the new CSCS/CHN information connected to your subscription.
And this is very important:
DON’T JUST SUBSCRIBE AND FORGET ABOUT IT.
If you subscribed through a bank and the bank gave you the option to select a stockbroker, pay attention to the stockbroker you selected.
That stockbroker will send you a New CSCS via SMS within 48 hours.
Why?
Because your CSCS/CHN details are connected to the stockbroker through which your investment account is maintained.
As someone that wants to Educate Millions of Nigeria’s to become Financial Intelligent.
One of the thing that I love about this Dangote IPO is that it has actually Exposed the Strength and Weakness of our investment Platform in Nigeria.
As you can see many Apps Crashed on the Opening day… And many of those companies have learnt from their Weakness.
Today, you can see a lot of them have improved in their Technology.
For Example:
Chapel Hill Denham and NGX Group has even introduced a WhatsApp number that will enable Investors to Subscribe to the Dangote IPO automatically on WhatsApp and the order will be sent to CSCS automatically, everything on Whatsapp Chat.
NOW LET ME ALSO TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS AFTER ALLOTMENT.
You subscribe today.
The IPO closes on the 13th of October.
Then comes the allotment process.
If shares are allotted to you, those shares are supposed to be credited through the capital-market settlement structure to your relevant CSCS account.
Then, when the company becomes available for trading in the secondary market by November Ending, you can trade the shares through your stockbroker.
That is why your CSCS details are important.
And as someone who is Following Fokona or Iking Ferry page, I believe You don’t want to wait until after allotment before asking:
“Where are my shares?”
You should have started understanding the process from the moment you subscribed.
And that’s why I built Fokona to localise and democratise Financial Literacy in Nigeria and across Africa.
Please if you have any questions about the Dangote IPO or Anything about Investment, visit Fokona website and ask your Questions, we have built a Financial Community where Expert and Beginners can share knowledge and learn Together.
SO IF YOU BOUGHT THE DANGOTE IPO THROUGH A BANK, DON’T PANIC.
Your money is not lost, every Nigeria Bank is mandated to forward your orders automatically via API integration to your individual Stock Brokers.
