Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti has opened up about his first marriage, revealing that he had made his stance on relationships clear to his first wife before they tied the knot.

The 64-year-old musician made the revelation during an interview with Channels Television, where he spoke candidly about his views on marriage and his personal lifestyle.

Femi explained that he had informed his first wife beforehand that he was attracted to women and did not believe he could remain committed to just one woman. According to him, he did not hide his expectations or lifestyle from her before they got married.

The Grammy-nominated musician also disclosed that his decision to enter the marriage was influenced by his desire for his children to have access to British passports.

Recounting the conversation he had with his first wife, Femi said:

“I told my first wife before we got married that I love women and could never be faithful to just one woman. I only married her so my children could get a British passport.”
