Husband Arrested While Transporting Wife’s Corpse on Motorcycle in Ogun

ABEOKUTA – A shocking incident unfolded in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Wednesday, after police operatives intercepted a motorcycle rider allegedly transporting the fresh corpse of his own wife.

The suspect, identified as Godonu Lowe, a resident of Omolende Village via Idogo, was apprehended following a credible tip-off to the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro at approximately 1:05 PM on November 19, 2025.

According to a statement released by the Ogun State Police Command’s Spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, police surveillance teams acted swiftly on the information and intercepted Lowe. Upon inspection, a sack tied to the back of his motorcycle was found to contain the body of an adult female.

“The content was discovered to be the corpse of an adult female, later identified as his wife,” the statement read. Preliminary investigation revealed signs of violence, with the body bleeding around the neck, suggesting foul play. A blood-stained cutlass was also recovered from the crime scene.

The victim has since been identified as the wife of the prime suspect. Her remains have been evacuated to the State Morgue in Ilaro for preservation and an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the anonymous individual who provided the timely information, highlighting its role in the swift arrest. He reiterated the command’s commitment to proactive policing and urged the public to continue partnering with security agencies by providing credible tips to aid in crime prevention and detection.

“The Commissioner…emphasized that even the slightest suspicion reported to the police could save lives,” the statement concluded.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with further investigations into the tragic event.
