How Umahi, Ribadu, Hope Uzodinma Are Sabotaging Wike’s Desperate Attempt To Frustrate Fubara’s Second Term Ambition–Wike’s Ally Reveals
Governor Sim Fubara’s recent move to the All Progressive Congress (APC) is a manifestation of anti-Wike conspiracy by notable persons close to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reliant.ng has been informed by a close reliable source privy to the development that some anti-Wike politicians are working behind the scene to frustrate every move by Nyesom Wike to deny Fubara second term as the governor of Rivers state. The source revealed that governor Sim Fubara prior to his reinstatement after the six month state of emergency in Rivers state, entered into an agreement with Nyesom Wike and the members of the Rivers state House of Assembly who are loyal to Wike. The agreement was brokered by Nuhu Ribadu under the authorization of president Tinubu. The peace deal entails that governor Fubara will be reinstated, will not be impeached, and will be allowed to complete his first tenure if he agrees to the following:
That Nyesom Wike to produce the 23 local government Chairmen in Rivers and all councillors across the wards of the state.
That Fubara will not seek reelection at the end of his first tenure nor sponsor a candidate in his place.
And that he must not default in his monthly remittance of an agreed sum to unnamed persons’ accounts.
Following his return, governor Fubara initiated moves clandestinely to solidify his own support base in Rivers state and build strong link with core members of the Tinubu’s administration who are very close to the president and whom the president has high regard for.
The first person he secured his support was former governor of Ebonyi state and current minister of Works, Dave Umahi whose relationship with Nyesom Wike while they were members of the People’s Democratic Party and serving governors of their respective states, were far from cordial. Dave Umahi and Nyesom Wike harbour animosity for each other; as a matter of fact, Dave Umahi stated that his reason for leaving PDP was due to Wike’s excesses in the party.
Hence, Dave Umahi was not hesitant about giving his affirmative nod to Fubara when he sought his support.

After securing Dave Umahi’s support, governor Sim Fubara also went to governor Hope Uzodinma who is the chairman of the All Progressive Congress Governors’ Forum. Governor Hope Uzodinma saw Fubara as an opportunity to retaliate Wike’s move to frustrate his choosing his successor in Imo State. Nyesom Wike had requested that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu compensates his political ally and former national secretary of the PDP, Sam Daddy Anyanwu with the APC’s Imo State governorship ticket for his role in destabilizing the PDP; a move governor Hope Uzodinma saw as a direct confrontation at him by Nyesom Wike and in which he sought to retaliate, hence, his support for Sim Fubara.
National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu who has been a long-standing trusted ally to president Bola Ahmed joined the league of those united by interest and are committed to frustrate Nyesom Wike’s conspiracy against Fubara due to his own political ambition in 2031.
Nuhu Ribadu is highly rated by president Tinubu who considers him at present as worthy of being his successor in 2031. Hence, Nuhu Ribadu understands the implication of having a powerful Wike controlling Rivers state government while he seeks to become president in 2031. Wike’s desperation to regain absolute control over Rivers state through a proxy is due to his vice presidential ambition in 2031. Nuhu Ribadu does not consider Wike as one he is capable of working with and believes that Wike will likely work against him as he did to Atiku Abubakar in 2023 if he fails to pick him as his running mate.
As a result, these strong politicians believe that supporting Sim Fubara’s reelection is a viable and veritable way to neutralizing Nyesom Wike and for most importantly, decorum in the APC. They are committed to persuading president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to endorse Fubara’s second term ambition at the expense of Nyesom Wike.
