How my dad inspired my acting career – Joshua Bamiloye

Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, the son of Mike Bamiloye, the founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, has revealed how he decided to go into acting alongside his father.

In a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, Joshua said his father began his career with stage dramas, travelling from one church to another to perform Christian plays before transitioning to filmmaking.

He said he was drawn to acting after seeing how his father’s performances inspired audiences and drew positive feedback.

Joshua added that watching his father use his creative abilities to impact people’s lives influenced his decision to follow a similar path.

“My father started from film and stage drama. He would go from church to church acting Christian drama evangelism and from there he upgraded into movies,” he said.

“You know when you watch someone do what you like and inspires you, that you see people are watching and are getting blessed, giving feedback.

“I now thought to myself that what else do I want to do? It was like I had the she creative nature that my father had.”

Mike has been married to Gloria Bamiloye, a Nigerian film actress and evangelist, since October 8, 1988.

Together, they have three children — Joshua, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Darasimi Gomba-Oyor — all three of them are actors. He has six grandchildren.
