House of Reps Dissolve All Ad Hoc Committees Over Failure to Submit Reports
The House of Representatives has dissolved all its Ad Hoc Committees with immediate effect following their failure to submit reports within the stipulated deadlines.
The decision was communicated to members through a memo issued by the Clerk of the House, directing the affected committees to cease operations.
According to the memo, the dissolution followed the failure of the committees to submit their reports despite the expiration of the deadlines earlier given to them.
The Clerk noted that even the two Ad Hoc Committees that had requested and obtained a two week extension failed to submit their reports at the expiration of the additional period.
The memo reminded members that Ad Hoc Committees are temporary and time bound bodies and are required to submit their reports within the period allotted to them in accordance with Order 18, Rule 11 of the Standing Orders of the House.
Consequently, chairmen of the affected committees were directed to submit all outstanding reports, working documents and other relevant records to the Office of the Clerk for safekeeping.
The House urged all members to take note of the directive and ensure strict compliance with the relevant provisions governing the operations of Ad Hoc Committees.
