House of Rep Member quits Labour Party, Joins APC
A member of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the Labour Party, Barr. Sunday Umeha has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Umeha who represents Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency announced his defection at an event of the APC at Ibagwa Aka, Igbo-Eze South local government area of Enugu State on Saturday, 17 May, 2025.
Speaking at the rally, Umeha said the protracted crisis rocking the Labour Party at both the National and state levels have made it impossible for him to effectively represent his people.
The lawmaker said his decision to join the ruling party is because of the need to connect to the centre and bring our people closer because “there are a lot of advantages in plugging to the center.”
He also said that the APC has served the interest of Igbos better than the PDP at the federal level, citing the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and Enugu-Port-Harcourt roads as some of the landmark projects the current ruling party has done in Igbo land.
