House of Assembly Receives ₦74.6bn Supplementary Budget from Governor, Fast-Tracks Legislative Process

The Plateau State House of Assembly has received a supplementary budget proposal of ₦74.6 billion for the 2025 fiscal year from Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

The proposal, contained in a letter from the governor, was read on the floor by Speaker Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel during plenary on Friday.

Governor Mutfwang explained that the supplementary budget was designed to address urgent state needs funded by internally generated revenue, with emphasis on expanding critical infrastructure and strengthening social cohesion across the state.

Following the presentation, the House Majority Leader, Hon. Joseph Gokum, moved a motion to suspend Order 13 Rule 2 to allow the bill to be considered without delay. The motion, seconded by Minority Leader Hon. Gabriel Dewan, was adopted through a voice vote.

The bill subsequently scaled both first and second readings before being referred to the House Committee on Appropriation. Speaker Daniel directed the committee to work with other standing committees to scrutinise the proposal and return with recommendations.

Meanwhile, lawmakers also considered a motion of urgent public importance on a recent windstorm in Foron District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. The motion was unanimously supported, with the Clerk directed to communicate the House’s resolution to the relevant authorities.

In his closing remarks, Speaker Daniel commended members for their dedication and urged them to remain focused on advancing Plateau State’s welfare and development.
