“HE BEGGED FOR SICK LEAVE… THEN DEATH CAME”: OUTRAGE AS YOUNG NYSC DOCTOR REPORTEDLY DIES AFTER ALLEGED REQUEST WAS DENIED

A wave of grief and outrage has swept across social media following the reported death of 25-year-old medical doctor, Wisdom Oghenetega Enakirerhi, who was serving as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.

According to reports circulating online, the young doctor had been battling a serious illness and repeatedly sought permission to go on sick leave for about three weeks so he could receive proper medical attention. However, it is alleged that his requests were repeatedly turned down despite his worsening condition.

A doctor identified as Dr. Akpoyibo, who shared the account, alleged that Dr. Enakirerhi had dedicated seven years to medical school, completed his internship, and was serving the nation through the NYSC when tragedy struck.

He further claimed that the deceased’s father and brother—both medical doctors—pleaded with the authorities to allow him return home for treatment, but their appeals were allegedly ignored. According to the account, approval for him to leave eventually came only a few days before his reported death.
