Governor redeploys four commissioners in cabinet reshuffle

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has approved the immediate redeployment of four commissioners as part of changes to his cabinet.

The redeployment was announced in a statement dated August 26, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Gebon Kataps. The statement was made available to journalists in Jalingo.

Under the new arrangement, the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Peter George, has been transferred to the Ministry of Water Management and Aquatic Affairs.

His counterpart in Water Management and Aquatic Affairs, Daniel Ishaku, will now oversee the Ministry of Waste Management and Resource Innovation.

The Commissioner for Waste Management and Resource Innovation, Bernard Shonzen James Kassa, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Social Development and Human Services.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Social Development and Human Services, Philip Habu James, will take charge of the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry.

The Secretary to the State Government said the changes take effect immediately.

Kataps added that Governor Kefas wished the affected commissioners success as they assume responsibilities in their new ministries.

The reshuffle comes as the Kefas administration continues to implement its policies and programmes across various sectors of the state.
