Governor Fubara hints on his political future at Southern Traditional Rulers’ Meeting

The governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara has given hint on his seeking reelection in 2027 amid speculations that he might decide not to participate in the Rivers state 2027 governorship election over his lingering feud with his erstwhile political ally and benefactor, Nyesom Wike.

While speaking at the meeting of Southern Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt, governor Siminalayi Fubara emphasized the importance of continuity in governance, stating that “it is not ideal to change the goalpost in the middle of the game.”

While declaring open the meeting which had more than 400 traditional rulers from the seventeen southern states, emphasized the importance of reelecting president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

He argued that the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is making notable progress in resetting the country’s economy, improving security, and delivering important infrastructure such as the coastal road in the face of numerous challenges.

However, public affair commentators believe that governor Sim Fubara’s remark: “it is not ideal to change the goalpost in the middle of the game”, is a subtle declaration of his resolve to seek reelection as governor of Rivers state.
