Governor directs Dep. Gov., SSG to set up schedule for projects commissioning

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri today directed the deputy governor, Dr. Peter Akpe and Secretary to the State government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei to set up a schedule for another round of projects commissioning in the state.

Governor Diri, who was speaking during the 186th State Executive Council meeting at Government House, Yenagoa, said a number of projects of the current administration had been completed and ready for commissioning.

“We are going to do another round of commissioning of projects. We have a lot of completed projects we are yet to commission. The deputy governor and SSG should set up a schedule for the commissioning of our projects”, he stated.

Following his earlier dissolution of the Chiefs council, Community Development Committee(CDC) and Youth organization in Ogboinbiri community, the Governor directed the Deputy governor and Commissioner for Local Government and Chiefaincy Affairs to ensure there is we an interim leadership in the community.

The Bayelsa governor also urged political actors vying for elective offices to follow laid down rules and respect existing zoning in certain places as well as present their aspirations to the stakeholders.

“We are in the political season. For the legislature, you don’t just send people there once or else you will be having neophytes. So, for those areas, first timers should be considered, unless there are issues of zoning”, Gov. Diri said.
