Governor appoints new  Head of Service

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has approved the appointment of Orok Bassey Okon as the new Head of the State Civil Service.

The appointment of the new Cross River Head of Service, which takes effect from September 19, 2025, follows the retirement of Dr. Innocent Ebri Eteng, who bowed out after what the government described as a meritorious career marked by dedication and excellence.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, Governor Otu urged the new Head of Service to bring vision, integrity and reform-driven zeal to the role.

He said Okon’s leadership is expected to foster efficiency, professionalism and accountability in the state’s public service, adding that the choice reflects his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance structures for effective service delivery.

Eteng, the outgoing Head of Service, was lauded for his distinguished contributions to the state civil service.
