Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has declared Monday, October 5, 2026, a work-free day for teachers across the state to commemorate this year’s World Teachers’ Day.
The declaration was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mashood Agboola.
AbdulRazaq extended his best wishes to teachers across the state and commended them for their contributions to human capital development and their resilience in the discharge of their duties.
“His Excellency extends his best wishes to teachers across the length and breadth of the state whose contributions to human capital development is acknowledged at all times,” Agboola said.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of teachers and other residents of the state.
“He reassures them of his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the teachers and of every Kwaran,” the statement added.

AbdulRazaq wished the teachers a rewarding and prosperous career as they celebrate the annual event.
In a separate development, the governor approved a N50,000 support grant for National Youth Service Corps members serving in the state.
He announced the grant during the swearing-in ceremony for the Batch C, Stream One corps members at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
The governor said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effect of current economic realities on the corps members and supporting them as they begin their service year in the state.
