Fubara Yanks Off PDP Flag From His Official Car, Positions Himself as Rivers APC Leader
In a recent Video Shared on SYMFONI TV, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has taken a bold and symbolic step in his political transformation, removing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag from his official vehicle, an action widely interpreted as a decisive move to fully align himself with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The dramatic gesture comes just days after his open declaration of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and his growing public association with key APC figures; PPolitically, the removal of the PDP flag as more than a routine adjustment, calling it a “clear and irreversible signal” of Fubara’s intention to reposition himself as the new power center within Rivers APC.
Sources within Government House revealed that the governor has, in recent weeks, intensified consultations with APC structures, loyalists, and national stakeholders, signaling his readiness to assume a leading role in steering the party’s direction across the state; This move has unsettled the PDP, which has been struggling to maintain cohesion following internal leadership battles and high-profile defections.
The development is also being viewed as a strategic attempt by Fubara to consolidate political influence amid his long-standing rivalry with his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
