Fresh Twist in Mohbad Case as Court Moves to Reopen Probe, Key Names May Be Invited

ABUJA (FCT) – The Federal High Court has fixed May 28, 2026, to hear a suit seeking the reopening of the investigation into the death of popular singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad. Justice James Omotosho gave the date after a civil society group, Break the Silence Foundation, approached the court to compel the Nigeria Police Force to carry out a fresh and thorough investigation into the 2023 incident in Lagos.

The group is asking the court to direct the police to invite key individuals linked to Mohbad’s final moments, including family members and close associates, and to take further action if evidence is found. The court confirmed that all parties have been served, while Nigerians continue to demand clarity and justice over the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
