Four IBEDC workers, two others arrested for alleged vandalism in Osun
The Osun State Police Command has arrested six suspects, including four staff members of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, for allegedly vandalising electricity installations in Ikirun, Osun State.

The other suspects arrested were an IBEDC security personnel and a welder.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday.
According to Ojelabi, the suspects were arrested at the scene of the alleged crime by operatives of the Ikirun Police Division, following credible intelligence received by the command.
He said the suspects were allegedly caught cutting a high-tension electricity pole with a cutting machine powered by a generating set.
The statement quoted Ojelabi as saying, “Acting on credible intelligence received at about 0600 hours, police operatives attached to Ikirun Division, led by the DPO, acted swiftly and visited the scene.
“Six suspects found cutting the high-tension pole with a cutting machine powered by a generating plant were subsequently arrested. This syndicate is suspected to be the ones terrorising Ikirun and its environs.”
The suspects were identified as Onabamiji Emmanuel, 55; Bolaji Odusanya, 51; Alimi Akeem, 36; Balogun Kehinde, 52; Oyewo Hammed, 31; and Oladosu Hammed, 22.

The police said Emmanuel, Odusanya and Akeem were IBEDC staff members in Ikirun, while Balogun was an IBEDC security personnel. Oyewo and Oladosu were identified as welders.
Items recovered from the suspects included a cutting machine, a generating set and a welding machine, according to the command.
Ojelabi said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, had directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
He added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The command warned individuals and groups involved in the vandalism, destruction or theft of public infrastructure to desist from such acts, assuring that its operatives would continue to deploy intelligence and operational resources to apprehend offenders.
The police also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information that could assist in preventing and combating crime in the state.
Zungura assured residents that the command remained committed to protecting public infrastructure and ensuring that those involved in acts capable of sabotaging critical public utilities were brought to justice.
