FirstBank issues fresh warning over FirstMobile scam message

FirstBank has dismissed a voice message circulating on WhatsApp claiming that its FirstMobile application has been compromised.
The bank, in a statement to customers, described the message as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it.

FirstBank said FirstMobile remains secure and fully operational, adding that it has security systems in place to protect its digital channels.

The bank also said it continues to invest in technology and cybersecurity measures to strengthen the resilience, reliability and security of its digital banking services.

“We assure our customers and other stakeholders that their funds remain safe and secure, and that the FirstMobile application and all other FirstBank digital channels continue to operate securely,” the bank said.

FirstBank further urged customers and other stakeholders not to share unverified information that could cause unnecessary concern.

The bank advised customers to rely on its verified communication channels for accurate information and updates concerning its services.

Discovererngr.com reports that the clarification comes after the voice message reportedly began circulating on WhatsApp, prompting concerns among some customers about the safety of the bank’s mobile banking platform.

However, FirstBank maintained that the claim of a compromise was fraudulent and misleading.
